Note: This taxon, like C. sp. is one of, at least, 8 or 9 species which have been submerged under the name C. viorna, by recent investigators but are now beginning to be recognized as full species. The old name by Small, Clematis flaccida is now recognized as the correct name for this species.

Habitat:

Calcareous soils and rock outcrops near Carter's Lake Rereg Dam, Coosawattee River.
